Indiaspora condemns racial attacks towards Indian American political candidates

Indiaspora condemns racial targeting of Indian American candidates, emphasizing diversity and inclusion as national values.

The racial targeting of Indian American political candidates during the current election cycle has been condemned by the Silicon Valley-based nonprofit, Indiaspora, which represents the Indian American community.

According to a statement from Indiaspora, the nation's values of inclusion, respect, and diversity have been violated by the shameful targeting of prominent Indian American leaders in public service on both sides of the political aisle. ‘We believe strongly in the vision of a better America, indeed of a more perfect union, towards which we endeavor to contribute,” it said.

Citing its recently released Impact Report, which documents the contributions of the Indian American community, Indiaspora emphasized the presence of 150 Indian Americans in senior government positions within the current administration, including five Indian Americans are currently serving as elected officials in the U.S. House of Representatives, and at least two more running in the upcoming elections.

The organization underscored the Indian American community's deep care for the country and its commitment to being a positive force. “At Indiaspora, we will continue to do our part in striving towards a nation that lives up to our highest ideals,” their statement added.

This statement comes amid heightened concerns about racial discrimination in the political sphere, calling for renewed focus on inclusivity and respect across all levels of government.
