India celebrated its 75th Republic Day on January 26 with the themes ‘Nari Shakti’ (Women Power) and ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).

President Droupadi Murmu led the Republic Day celebrations from Kartavya Path in Delhi. French President Emmanuel Macron attended the celebration as the chief guest as India demonstrated its cultural diversity and military prowess during the parade. This year's parade saw the participation of 13,000 special guests from all walks of life.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced the Republic Day celebrations with a visit to the National War Memorial to pay tributes to the fallen heroes by laying a wreath. Shortly after, the national flag was unfurled, followed by the national anthem and a 21-gun salute.

The parade began with President Murmu taking the salute shortly after she and her French counterpart arrived at the Kartavya Path in a traditional 'buggy.'

For the first time, the parade was heralded by more than 100 female artists playing Indian musical instruments such as the nagada, shankh, and naadswaram. In another first, an all-women tri-service contingent marched down Kartavya Path, representing 'Nari Shakti.'

The all-women contingent was led by Captain Sandhya of Army Military Police, with three supernumerary officers Captain Sharanya Rao, Sub Lieutenant Anshu Yadav, and Flight Lieutenant Shrishti Rao.

Headed by Captain Khourda, the 30-member band contingent was followed by a 90-member marching contingent, led by Captain Noel. At the same time, a multirole tanker aircraft and two Rafale fighter jets of the French Air and Space Force flew above the contingents as they walked the Kartavya Path.

More than 20 tableaux were seen during the parade, highlighting the theme of female empowerment across the country. The Madhya Pradesh tableau showcased the accomplishments of the state's women in the development process through its welfare schemes. At the same time, the Odisha tableau exhibited women's active participation in handicrafts and handloom industries across the state.

Uttar Pradesh's tableau stole the spotlight in this year's Republic Day parade with a stunning representation of Lord Ram. It came in line with the recently inaugurated Ram Temple Ayodhya earlier this week.

Themed 'Women power in protecting the nation by providing the defense shield in all five dimensions, namely land, air, sea, cyber, and space,' the DRDO tableau demonstrated several crucial systems and technologies during the parade. ISRO's tableau showcased Chandrayaan-3's lunar landing and the Aditya L-1 mission launched to study the Sun.
