Indian student dies of cardiac arrest in Canada, family seeks govt help
The deceased Ahmed was a resident at Tolichowki, Hyderabad, and was pursuing his master’s degree in Canada.

An Indian student from Hyderabad died of cardiac arrest in Canada on February 16, 2024.
The deceased identified as Shaik Muzammil Ahmed was a resident of Tolichowki, Hyderabad. He was pursuing master’s degree in computing/ information technology (IT) from Conestoga College, Waterloo Campus in Kitchener City in Ontario, Canada, since December 2022.
The news of Ahmed’s death was made public by Telangana-based political party Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) leader Amjad Ullah Khan on X (formerly Twitter).
The politician posted a letter that the family of the deceased wrote to India's External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar asking for his help to repatriate the mortal remains of the 25-year-old to Hyderabad.

The letter from Ahmed's uncle Mahammed Amzad, claimed that the former was suffering from fever a week before his death. The family was informed of Ahmed’s death due to cardiac arrest on call by his friend.
"On hearing this news, his parents and entire family is in a state of shock, and we request you to kindly send his mortal remains back to Hyderabad," the letter read.
MBT leader Khan shared the letter with images of Ahmed and urged the consulate and government to extend help in the matter. Earlier, Khan had also highlighted the case of another Indian student Syed Mazahir Ali who was attacked in Chicago.
