Shri Belem Atchyuth, a State University of New York (SUNY) student who hails from Andhra Pradesh in India, was killed in a bike accident on the evening of May.22.
The Indian Consulate in New York confirmed the news in a post on X.
"Saddened to learn about the untimely demise of Shri Belem Atchyuth, a student at SUNY who met with a bike accident and passed away yesterday evening; our deepest condolences to the family; @IndiainNewYork is in touch with the bereaved family & local agencies to extend all assistance including sending the mortal remains back to India," the consulate wrote.

The incident is the latest in a series of reported accidents involving Indian-origin students in the US.
Hyderabad software engineer Abbaraju Prudhvi Raj was reportedly killed in a road accident in North Carolina on May.14.
On the same day, three 18-year-old Indian-American teens died in Alpharetta, Georgia, in a single-vehicle accident that also left two others injured.
Two 19-year-olds from Telangana studying in the US were previously killed in a night road accident in the state of Arizona on Apr.20.
