Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi surpassed a significant milestone this week amassing 100.1 million followers on X (formerly known as Twitter). Expressing his gratitude, Modi praised the platform for enabling "discussions, debates, and constructive criticism.”
Since joining X in 2009, PM Modi has consistently utilized the platform for constructive engagement. Over the past three years alone, his presence on X has seen remarkable growth, with an increase of approximately 30 million followers.

Globally, PM Modi has become the most followed leader on the micro-blogging platform. He surpasses many world leaders including US President Joe Biden, who has 38.1 million followers, Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who has 11.2 million, and Pope Francis, who has 18.5 million.
In a comparison of social media followings among Indian politicians on X, PM Modi stands out with a substantial lead. Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has 26.4 million followers, while Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has 27.5 million.
Elon Musk, who heads X Corp. (formerly Twitter), acknowledged PM Modi's achievement, praising his influential presence across multiple digital platforms. "Congratulations PM Narendra Modi on being the most followed world leader!" he stated.
