A family of four who were found dead in their San Mateo, California home earlier this week, have been identified as that of a former Meta engineer, his wife, and their 4-year-old twin boys.

Anand Sujith Henry, 37, and Alice Priyanka Benziger, 38, were found dead in their bathroom from gunshot wounds while their four-year-old twins, Noah and Neithan, were also found dead inside one of the $2.1 million home’s five bedrooms.

“A 9mm pistol and a loaded magazine were also found in the bathroom,” the San Mateo Police Department said in a statement adding that the case is being investigated as a murder-suicide.

Tragic end to immigrant family from Kerala

Hailing from Kerala, India, Henry and Benzinger reportedly moved into their San Mateo home just before the birth of the twins.

Henry formerly worked as a software engineer at Google and Meta and went on to found his own AI company called Logits in 2023. According to media reports, he filed for divorce in 2016 but did not go through with it.

Meanwhile, Benzinger worked as a data science manager at an online real estate platform Zillow when she died.

According to media reports, police said they were called to the house multiple times but did not divulge any further information.

As no suicide note was recovered from the scene, the motive behind the crime is yet to be revealed as the investigation is ongoing.

This is the second such incident involving an Indian immigrant family putting into question the harsh realities of the American Dream.

A similar incident was reported from Massachusetts in January in which Rakesh Kamal, 57, shot his wife Teena Kamal, 54, and their college-going daughter Arianna Kamal, 18 before turning the gun on himself.
