Indian American Impact appoints Chintan Patel as executive director

Indian American Impact, an organization dedicated to empowering South Asian and Indian American communities in the US, has named Chintan Patel as its fourth executive director. 

Patel, a seasoned campaign and political operative, succeeds Neil Makhija, who will transition from the position of third executive director to president. Patel will lead Indian American Impact through the upcoming 2024 elections and into the future, a statement by Impact said.

Patel has over fifteen years of experience in grassroots organizing and political campaigns. He previously served as vice president of Political Affairs at End Citizens United/Let America Vote. In that role , Patel directed the organization's political strategy across federal and non-federal races, contributing to the success of over 350 campaigns at various levels. 

His tenure also involved fostering relationships with community stakeholders. Before his role at End Citizens United/Let America Vote, Patel worked as a political consultant, specializing in developing and executing effective direct mail campaigns, and served as political and field director for multiple campaigns.

“I am honored to join Indian American Impact at this critical moment for our country and our communities,” Patel said. “The 2024 elections present an important opportunity for Indian and South Asian Americans to have our voice heard in our Democracy. I look forward to working with the talented staff and exceptional board to build upon the organization’s success and move our candidates and communities forward.”

Since 2016, Indian American Impact has endorsed 164 candidates nationwide, contributing to the rise of Indian and South Asian American representation in politics. With over $20 million channeled to candidates and active voter mobilization efforts, the organization has amplified South Asian American voices and driven positive change in communities nationwide.
