Indian American doctor launches scholarship

Indian-American physician Dr Dhaval Shah has launched a scholarship in his name known as Dr Daval Shah scholarships for future doctors which is designed to support students pursuing a career in medicine.

The  US$1000 Scholarship can be availed by undergraduate students as well as high school seniors planning to pursue a medical degree. The website mentioned that the scholarship criteria are meticulously crafted to identify individuals who represent  the qualities and values championed by Dr Dhaval Shah.

In order to apply, candidates must submit an essay between 500-1000 words on their goals in medicine and how they reflect the values of compassion, dedication, and innovation that define Dr Shah’s career. The scholarship is open to all students demonstrating a strong interest in healthcare and medicine, regardless of specialty or subfield.

Relevant extracurricular activities, research experience, and academic achievements should also be highlighted in the application, a release noted. Applications will be evaluated based on the merit of the essay, achievements, and the applicant’s embodiment of Dr Shah’s spirit.

One student will be selected each year to receive the $1,000 award. The recipient can use the scholarship to cover education costs including tuition, books, lab fees, and more. The last date to apply is June 15, 2024. The selection process will culminate in the announcement of the scholarship recipient on July 15.

Based in Las Vegas, Nevada, Dr Shah has served as the CEO of InfusionmedUSA, Carrollton Hospital, and as the chief development officer for Improve Bio-Science, a company dedicated to advancing pancreatic cancer research. The physician has earned numerous accolades and recognition for his groundbreaking work in infectious diseases, genomic research, and healthcare leadership.
