The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi has awarded Ashutosh Garg, the CEO and co-founder of California-based Eightfold AI, its Distinguished Alumni award.
Garg now joins the ranks of IITs most notable alumni, including renowned venture capitalist Vinod Khosla, Nutanix and Cohesity founder Mohit Aron, Rubrik co-founder Arvind Jain, and many others.
The Institute honors its distinguished alumni who have made notable contributions and achieved excellence in science and technology, corporate governance, and public and social service.
Commenting on the honor, Garg said in a statement, "The Institute instilled in me an appreciation for innovation that has now become a signature of Eightfold AI. It was at IIT Delhi that I was first introduced to machine learning. Three decades later, it's clear that this early exposure empowered me to become a leader in AI, and in particular the impact this technology can have on people and their careers.
Founded by Garg in 2016, Eightfold AI epitomizes leadership in these domains by leveraging artificial intelligence to revolutionize hiring, upskilling, and talent management for both private and public sector organizations.
“Today, we are committed to providing career paths in the generative AI world to more than ten million people by 2030," said Garg.
The Indian American is regarded as an expert in artificial intelligence, with over 10,000 research citations, more than 50 patents, 35+ peer-reviewed research publications, and the Outstanding PhD Thesis Award from the University of Illinois Urbana-Campaign for his work in machine learning.
In 2009, after overseeing search and personalization at Google and IBM Research, Garg founded Bloomreach, which has been recognized as a visionary vendor on Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Digital Experience Platforms.
In 2021, the US State Department honored Garg as one of ten immigrant founders who have established two unicorn companies, underscoring his significant contributions to the tech industry and his influence on the global workforce.
Under Garg's leadership, Eightfold AI aids companies and public sector organizations in attracting and retaining top talent, training employees, and achieving diversity goals. The company, valued at $2.1 billion, leverages a global dataset encompassing over 1 billion career trajectories and more than 1 million unique skills.
