In an effort to streamline international travel by providing faster, smoother, and more secure immigration clearance for passengers, the Government of India has officially launched the Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP).
Currently introduced at the New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport's T-3 Terminal, the FTI-TTP is available to Indian nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cardholders free of charge.
The programme requires participants to register online through the official government portal (MHA) where they must provide their personal details and upload necessary documents. Registered applicants can have their biometrics captured either at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or when they are at the airport.
To use the FTI-TTP, registered passengers will have to scan their boarding passes and passports at designated e-gates. This will authenticate the passenger's biometrics, and upon successful verification, the e-gate will automatically open, granting immigration clearance.
The Bureau of Immigration under the Ministry of Home Affairs is responsible for implementing the FTI-TTP programme. In addition to the IGI Airport in Delhi, the first phase of the programme will extend to other major airports, including Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Cochin, and Ahmedabad.
The announcement was made by the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.
