A series of events commemorating India's Independence Day were held across New York City on Aug. 15, highlighting the strong people-to-people ties between India and the US, as well as celebrating India's rich cultural heritage.
The Federation of Indian Associations NY-NJ-CT-NE (FIA) hosted a special Independence Day celebration at the iconic Times Square in New York City. The event was a vibrant display of India's rich cultural heritage, with patriotic songs and the entire area covered in the hues of the Indian tricolor.
Consul General of India in New York, Binaya Pradhan welcomed Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita as the special guest for the flag hoisting ceremony.

His visit to the city was part of his broader travels before heading to Latin America.
As part of the India Independence Day celebrations, the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) illuminated the Empire State Building in the vibrant colors of the Indian tricolor. Additionally, the World Trade Center, the tallest building in the United States, was adorned with the Indian flag, showcasing the deep connections between India and the U.S. and marking the occasion with iconic tributes.
