In a statement following President Donald Trump’s election as the 47th President of the United States, Improve The Dream, a nonpartisan youth-led organization expressed its commitment to collaborate with his administration to implement immigration reform.
The organization, which advocates for the rights of children of long-term visa holders, their families, and other immigrants, reiterated the need for bipartisan solutions that reflect American values. Dip Patel, president of Improve The Dream, emphasized the urgency for practical and compassionate reforms that provide stability for skilled young immigrants who contribute to the nation’s workforce.
According to Patel, the organization seeks pathways that retain talented individuals raised and educated in the United States, many of whom are in critical fields like healthcare and STEM. “Every day without action results in young adults, who have been raised in the United States by skilled workers and small business owners, to be forced to leave the country, separating them from their families and stopping their ability to contribute to our country.,” Patel stated.
The statement underscores Improve The Dream’s longstanding efforts to build support across party lines. Noting that a stable immigration pathway aligns with core American values of fairness and opportunity, the organization voiced optimism that the Trump administration will consider expanding legal immigration options for productive individuals and families.
Patel concluded with a commitment to working alongside policymakers to develop reforms that uphold the ideals of unity and opportunity. “We remain ready and willing to work with anyone to make our dream of staying in this country possible. We want to be a solution that inspires more common sense fixes to bring America closer to its ideals.”
Will not stop fighting for what is right for us and our country.
