Syed Mazhar Ali, a student hailing from Hyderabad, was brutally attacked by four robbers in Chicago earlier this week.

The incident comes amid recent incidents of fatal attacks on several Indian students, including Vivek Saini, raising concerns about the security of Indian students abroad.

According to media reports, Ali was mobbed by unknown assailants when he was making his way home around 1:18 AM. In a video message filmed right after the assault, Ali was seen bleeding profusely from severe injuries to his face and head.

Reddy further assured that a dedicated help desk will be established for students residing abroad, emphasizing the government's commitment to the well-being of its citizens overseas. This came after Ali’s wife, Syeda Ruquiya Fatima Razvi, pleaded for support.

The Consulate General of India in Chicago has also affirmed its engagement with Ali and his wife in India to provide necessary assistance. “Consulate is in touch with Syed Mazahir Ali and his wife in India Syeda Ruquiya Fatima Razvi and assured all possible assistance.
