Houston’s Sanatan community hosts Diwali bash
Houston’s first Diwali since Ram Mandir consecration features a life-sized Ram Lalla statue, similar to Ayodhya's, brought by the Shri Sitaram Foundation.

Houston’s Sanatan community is preparing for a grand Diwali celebration. Arun Mundra, the Houston Sanatan team, and VHPA (World Hindu Council) have invited local temples to join the celebrations. This follows the August consecration of the 90-foot Abhay Hanuman statue at the Statue of Union (SOU). A Rathyatra was also held to honor priests and temples, promoting unity across Sanatan communities.
This is the first Diwali since the historic consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The installation of Ram Lalla, led by India's Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, was a major spiritual event celebrated worldwide.

Ram Lalla statue / Arun MundraThe celebrations will run from Oct. 19 to Nov. 3, featuring traditional dances, food fairs, fireworks, and cultural performances. One of the highlights of these events is the life-sized Ram Lalla statue, similar to the one in Ayodhya, brought by the Shri Sitaram Foundation. Events will take place at ISKCON, BAPS, Sri Meenakshi Temple, and many others, with Diwali bazaars, Ravan Dahan, and Ram Leela shows.
Harris and Fort Bend counties have allowed firecrackers, adding to the festive mood. The celebrations will end with Annakoot on Nov. 2.
