Houston Hindus celebrate Ram Temple consecration

The event was attended by representatives from international countries that are associated with Ramayan and Lord Ram.

Hindus of Greater Houston (HGH) a prominent  community organization in the area celebrated the Ram Temple’s consecration with key community leaders at the GSH Event Center in Houston, Texas.

Despite the cold weather, a  Ram Pushp Vahan parade was carried out around the center preceded by a performance by the Dhol Phatak team. Children dressed as Lord Ram, Laxman, Sita and Hanuman were the highlight of the parade.

The Swapnil Masi group played the same tune that was played by the Shri Ram Pathak group in Ayodhya during the temple’s consecration ceremony. An exhibition on Lord Ram and a Rangoli by Limca world record holder Sangeeta were among the other attractions at the event.

Community leaders such as Jugal Malani, Swatantra Jain, Durga Agarwaal participated in the event along with HGH team comprising of Arun Mundra, Girish Naik, Rachna Shah, Vijay Pallod, Thara Narasimhan and others. Fort Bend County Commissioner Andy Meyers also graced the event.

Priests from the local Meenakshi temple performed the aarti. The rituals were followed by a welcome speech by Girish Naik who recognized the various public officers in Houston who attended the event.

The event also shed light on the international countries that are associated with Ramayan and Lord Ram. Foreign countires such as Vietnam, Philippines, Nepal, Indonesia. China, Dubai, Dubai, Pakistan were represented by delagates who extended their best wishes on the Ram Temple’s inauguration in Ayodhya.

The event concluded with a recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa, aarti and Mahaprasad.
