Hold elections in Swing States only

In this letter, Girish Modi explains the benefits of holding elections in just six battleground states.

Dear editor,

There are many countries in the world which hold elections. This year alone there are 52 countries that will hold or already held elections – very quietly without much hoopla. United States of America holds presidential election every four year. It is the only country which spends too much time because campaigns last for 18 months and too much money because they spend $1 billion dollars.

Though the elections are held in all fifty states, Six States are called key States or battleground or swing States in this year’s election. In other words a president for a nation of more than 330 million people will be decided by a small number of voters who are neither Democrats nor Republicans, but independents, who don’t decide who to vote for until the day of election.

I wonder why don’t we hold election in these key states and spare the rest of people from ugly campaigns that cost millions of dollars.
