Hemant Dhingra appointed to California medical board

The Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, recently appointed Indian American nephrologist, Hemant Dhingra to the Medical Board of California, which is responsible for licensing and supervising medical doctors of the state.

The Clovis resident currently serves as the chief of medical staff at Saint Agnes Medical Center of Fresno and as the president and CEO of KareWell Health, the largest kidney care value-based organization in Central California.

An expert in interventional nephrology, Dhingra previously served as the board member of the California Medical Association Political Action Committee. He is a member of the American Society of Nephrology and the California Medical Association. Since 2014, he has also presided over the Nephrology Group. 

As an immigrant from Amritsar, India, Dhingra was one of the founding members of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), a national organization that represents the interests and values of Indian-American physicians. 

He obtained his MD degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and a fellowship in nephrology residency program from Texas Tech University.
