Health Camp of New Jersey (HCNJ), a local non-profit that has been organizing the health fairs to benefit minority and underserved communities will hold their first Health Fair in Monroe, NJ on Jun.16.
The event, which will be held at the Om Sri Sai Balaji Temple, will offer participants various health screening and education and counseling services for medical, dental and mental health.
According to the organizers, all pre-registered participants in the uninsured or underinsured categories can receive preventive screening, education and counseling for chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disorders, cancer and mental health disorders, at the fair.
The comprehensive health screening will include blood test, EKG, physical examination, dental screening, cardiology, neurology and endocrine consultations, mental health screening and counseling, physical therapy, various types of cancer screening, prevention and education, women disorders and many other services, they said.
The physicians, dentists, mental health providers and various specialties of internal medicine, cardiology, endocrinology, neurology and allied health specialists to include pharmacist, phlebotomists, EKG techs, medical assistants, nurses, social workers and medical students and other student volunteers will provide guidance specifically focused to the South Asian population.
Since its establishment in 1998, HCNJ has provided screening to more than 12,500 needy people in South Asian communities throughout the state and detected more than 4,200 chronic diseases abnormalities.
The fair in Monroe is part of the organization’s initiative to conduct five health fairs in various areas of New Jersey, during which they expect to screen approximately 800-1000 individuals.
HCNJ, as part of its 25th anniversary celebration, aims to inaugurate a community health center in New Jersey by 2026 to benefit needy individuals and provide follow-up services throughout the year.
