Harvard Business School (HBS) has announced its newest cohort of 55 executive fellows for the 2023-2024 academic year. Indian Americans Harish Manwani, Sunand Menon and Deepa Purushothaman are among the new cohort.
According to a release by HBS the executive fellows program seeks to leverage the expertise of outstanding practitioners, many of whom are alumni to enhance teaching and learning at the school. All fellows partner with at least one HBS faculty member to bring their business experience into the HBS community.
“Since its launch in 2020, the Executive Fellows program has enabled HBS to engage with a remarkable collection of talented practitioners,” said professor Len Schlesinger, chair of the program.
Harish Manwani is the senior operating partner of Blackstone. Before joining Blackstone, he was the chief operating officer of Unilever, where he spent thirty-eight years holding various senior general management positions globally. Manwani received a B.Sc. (honours) degree from Bombay University and has also attended the advanced management program at HBS.
Sunand Menon is the founder of New Media Insight and chief product officer of Risk Assistance Network + Exchange (RANE). He is a digital strategy thought leader with 25 years of expertise in transforming traditional businesses and creating and leading new digital and analytics-enabled businesses and is widely published within the business press on digital strategy, operations and leadership including the Harvard Business Review and Fast Company.
Deepa Purushothaman is the founder of the re. write, an unconventional think tank advancing a new story of work. She has spent more than 20 years at Deloitte helping clients transform and grow and was the first Indian-American woman and one of the youngest to partner in the firm’s history.
The fellows contribute to the school by collaborating on curricular and co-curricular activities. These include but are not limited to, co-teaching course sessions in the elective curriculum, offering career counseling and development coaching, co-leading short intensive programs (SIPs), and delivering workshop sessions in the MBA Program.
Fellows will also bring their expertise to the School’s HBS online and executive education programs by collaborating with faculty in case development and other research projects. Their appointments range from a few months to one year and may be extended.
