A woman’s anti-immigration post on X (formerly Twitter) in which she expresses her “displeasure” about new Indian immigrants moving to Canada recently went viral on the platform.

In her post, X user Megha, who appears to be an Indian who settled in Canada herself, attributed the reason for her dislike to the decline in the quality of Indian immigration to Canada.

She wrote, “My parents and entire family HATE the Indian migrants filling up Canada. Probably more than the migrants themselves because of how thoroughly they've damaged our reputation.”

“Indian immigrants who were educated came largely from nice families, from the city, with manners, English skills, and etiquette. These new migrants, defiling the beaches and groping women, come from illiterate, low-class backgrounds and have no sense of civic duty nor are they capable of learning,” she further added.

Since her post was shared on July 20, it has gained more than 400,000 views. It also has over 2300 likes and numerous comments (which are either supporting her or criticizing her).

In response to Megha’s tweet an X user has written, “Canadians don't understand class distinctions. They literally put everyone in the same category. The irresponsible Trudeau immigration policy is causing massive problems, destroying the social fabric, and turning Canadians against immigrants in general. This is a very bad thing."

Another X user Vineeth wrote, “Megha, you guys in Canada can create a system of hierarchy to divide the population. Like: White Canadians > 80s and 90s Indian Canadians > Other races > New Indians This way you can discriminate against these new Indians and make sure the educated Indians do not marry or mingle with them. You can call this system a "Caste System" or something”.

Partly agreeing with Megha, one user wrote, “I can smell a sense of elitism here. It’s not class issues. It’s the dilution of meritocracy or adoption of quota system, across everywhere. Even many PhDs have questionable credibility/quality.”

This is not the first time this user has dived into these waters making controversial statements about immigration. She has been sharing anti-immigration posts since 2023 and has been criticized for defending colonialism as well on social media.
