The World Trade Center in Utah,US, has announced the appointment of Indian American financial expert Guruprasad Sowle as its international adviser with special responsibility for India.
A chartered accountant by training, Dallas-based Guru as he is popularly known, has been in the US since 2007 and currently serves as financial adviser at wealth management company Edward Jones. He holds advisory and board positions at multiple US-based corporations for whom he has crafted transformative strategies for new markets, including India.
Guru is the co-founder and president of the Indus International Research Foundation (IIRF), an Indo-US think tank.In June last year, in his capacity as IIRF president, Guru met Narendra Modi in New York, during the Indian Prime Minister’s US visit.
Their discussions explored collaboration opportunities between small and medium-sized companies in India and the United States, particularly in the manufacturing sector. Guru proposed the establishment of a dedicated corridor for collaboration in small and medium segments across all sectors, with a focus on aerospace and defence manufacturing.
Guru’s key focus at WTC Utah will be enabling and facilitating collaboration between Utah and India, strengthening economic ties and promoting mutual prosperity.
Utah business team coming to India
Among his first tasks is to facilitate a high-level delegation from Utah to visit India during February and March this year. The visit will embrace key themes, including networking and relationship building with national and state-level leaders and corporates with a focus on aerospace and defence.
