Gov. Abbott names Arun Agarwal as Texas Economic Development Corporation Chair

Most recently, Agarwal led a successful delegation trip to India with Governor Abbott, to foster deeper economic ties between Texas and India.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Indian American CEO Arun Agarwal as the chair of the Texas Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) board of directors. 

The Corporation serves as the private sector partner in a public-private collaboration with the Governor’s Office of Economic Development & Tourism, with the mission of promoting Texas as the top state for business, both within the United States and internationally.

Dallas-based Agarwal is the CEO of Nextt and has diverse business interests in textiles, cotton trading, real estate, and sports management. He currently serves as the chairman of the National Cricket League USA, co-chair of the Indian American CEO Council, and president of the Dallas Parks and Recreation Board. 

Additionally, Agarwal is a board member of several organizations, including the U.S. India Friendship Council, the University of Texas at Dallas Executive Board, Texas Tech Innovation HUB at Research Park, and the MD Anderson Board of Visitors. He is also a philanthropist, supporting various nonprofits such as CHETNA and the Living Dreams Foundation.

Agarwal holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Institute of Management Technology in Ghaziabad, India, a master’s degree in Computer Information Systems from Southern New Hampshire University, and an advanced certificate in International Business from Harvard University.

Governor Abbott also appointed S. David Deanda, Jr., as the vice chair of the Texas Economic Development Corporation board of directors.
