During the meeting, a 50-member convention committee was established to plan and organize the event.
Themed ‘Opportunities for Diaspora Indians in India’s Big Manifest Future’ the convention will aim to highlight India’s present and the future. It also aims to highlight the role of the Indian Diaspora in helping realize the desirable future of the country,
Topics of the five conference sessions are— Diaspora Youth and Young Achievers; Diaspora Women and their Growing Contributions in Various Sectors; Technologies and AI and other Innovations; GOPIO Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Worldwide Networking of the Diaspora Businesses; Medical and Health Issues and how Diaspora Indians can participate in India’s healthcare industry
The first global convention of the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) was launched in New York in 1989, with the initial thrust of fighting human rights violations against people of Indian origin.
While this has been improved over the last decade, human rights violations continue to be a key challenge for the organization and Indians living outside their country. Currently, the organization prioritizes pooling financial and professional resources for the benefit of PIOs in India and abroad. Furthermore, GOPIO has been accredited by the United Nations as an NGO to participate in the World Conference Against Racism.
