Minneapolis-based food manufacturing company General Mills announced that Asheesh Saksena will join the company as chief strategy and growth officer, effective Aug. 26.
In his new role, Saksena will be responsible for the company's strategic planning process and for developing long-term plans to drive growth. He succeeds Dana McNabb, who was recently named group president, North America Retail.
Previously, Saksena served as chief growth officer at Gap Inc., overseeing operations, technology, and growth strategies. He has also held positions as president of Best Buy Health and chief strategic growth officer at Best Buy Co., Inc., as well as chief strategy officer at Cox Communications and deputy chief strategy officer at Time Warner Cable.

Saksena holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology & Science in Pilani, India, and an MBA from the University of Delhi, India. He has served on the Board of Industry Advisors for the Consumer Technology Forum (CES) and as a Board Trustee for the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
