Fruit Street Health, a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recognized diabetes prevention program, has appointed Indian American physician Arvind Ravinutala as its chief medical officer.
A board-certified internal medicine physician with over 12 years of experience, Ravinutala has held several prominent positions, including senior healthcare consultant at Stream by AlphaSense, clinical informaticist at Adventist Health, and bioethics committee chair at Adventist Health White Memorial.
Additionally, he serves as an associate professor at Loma Linda University. His work emphasizes the use of technology to prevent chronic diseases, particularly Type 2 diabetes.
Ravinutala expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, stating, "I am extremely excited to work alongside Laurence Girard and the Fruit Street team to help fight this global epidemic and prevent the severe complications of Type 2 diabetes that I see in my practice."
Laurence Girard, CEO and founder of Fruit Street Health, praised Ravinutala’s commitment to the mission of diabetes prevention, noting their shared vision of reducing the severe impacts of the disease, especially as the program prepares to become a Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program Supplier.
Ravinutala's educational background includes a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (2016). He also holds a Bachelor's in Science in Human Biology from UC San Diego (2010) and has completed the Healthcare Innovation Bootcamp at MIT-Harvard Medical School (2018).
