In a gesture of cultural harmony and wellness, Iowa Colony commemorated International Yoga Day through a CGI (Consulate General of India) proclamation delivered by Arun Mundra, an Indian-American consultant from Houston, Texas. The proclamation, announced in collaboration with public officials from Metro Houston, Fort Bend County, and the City of Stafford, highlighted the global significance of yoga in promoting health and happiness.
During the ceremony, Mundra emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative, supported by the United Nations, which has seen participation from over 170 countries worldwide. He expressed gratitude to local leaders such as Fort Bend County Judge KP George, City of Stafford Mayor Ken Mathew, and Iowa Colony Mayor Wil Kennedy for their support in promoting yoga's global influence from Houston, known as the Energy City.
Mayor Kennedy and Mayor Mathew, affirmed the proclamation and officially declared June.21 as Yoga Day, marking a decade since its inception. The proclamation ceremony, attended by community leaders, emphasized yoga's universal appeal and its role in promoting inner peace and physical vitality. They also recognized yoga's holistic approach to health in Stafford, Texas. The event signifies a shared commitment to fostering well-being through yoga across diverse communities.
Mundra thanked Kennedy and Mathew for their gesture.
"This ancient culture of India is helping the whole globe," Arun Mundra wrote in a Facebook post, highlighting yoga's holistic approach to health and its ability to reduce stress and enhance mental clarity.
