A 20-member team of the Foundation of Indian Americans – New England (FIA-NE) attended engaged with Rhode Island political leaders during Senator Jack Reed’s 35th Annual Spring Family Breakfast at the Rhode Island Convention Center on May.5 2024.
Senator Reed is the senior US Senator from Rhode Island, and the chairman of US Senate Armed Services Committee. Notably, he is also the member of the Senate India Caucus.
FIA-NE president, Abhishek Singh along with the executive members and senior advisors, including Sanjay Gokhale, Rakesh Kavsari, Nikhil Wadhwa, and Anand Sharma attended the event. The delegation also included two school children: 17-years old, Rishi Gokhale and 12-years old Abhyuday Singh.
FIA-NE Delegation at Senator Reed’s 35th Annual Spring Family Breakfast /Senator Reed interacted with the delgation and recalled his India visit last year when he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Senator expressed optimism for stronger diplomatic and military ties between the US and India.
FIA-NE president and vice president Singh and Gokhale thanked the Senator Reed for being a role model for the next generation and for his efforts as a member of the Senate India Caucus.
During the event, FIA-NE delegates also met with US Congressman from Rhode Island’s first Congressional district, Gabe Amo, and Rhode Island’s Governor, Daniel McKee, Rhode Island’s General Treasurer, James Diossa, Rhode Island’s Secretary of State, Gregg Amore, and the Mayor of East Providence, Roberto (Bob) DaSilva.
