Fallout between Biden and Obama

In this letter, Girish Modi i, shared his thoughts on why President Biden's reelection bid faces resistance from former President Obama.

Dear editor,

President Biden’s re-election bid is in trouble, because lot of leading politicians such as House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries, ex- Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Minority leader Chuck Schumer and House majority Whip Adam Schiff are a few names among many influential who have written off Biden and want him to quit the race before the Democratic convention takes place on 19th August.

Obama is the latest politician and ex-president who has voiced his opinion that Biden should quit the race and make room for next generation politicians. This is the final nail in Biden’s dream of becoming a two-term president.

When Obama was president, he had chosen Biden as vice-president as political strategy, because Biden was a Senator for many years and knew how to get the legislations go through the Senate and the House.  However, Obama had kept distance from Biden during his eight years as president and not chosen him as heir apparent. Instead, Obama had endorsed Hillary Clinton, who was his Secretary of State (called Foreign minister in other countries) and had groomed her as his heir apparent.

Obama had to support Biden in 2020 as ex-president and for the sake of unity of their party, so that he can beat Donald Trump. However, Obama had seen Biden’s poor performance in last four years and he is fed up with him mainly because of legal problems with Hunter, failed immigration policy, wobbly foreign policy and runaway inflation. That’s why he came forward and publicly asked Biden to step down.

Biden’s age and his mental agility are main issues, which were apparent in the first presidential debate. The party leaders are worried that Biden will not only lose the election, but also Democratic party will lost control of House and Senate, which means Trump will ram through lot of legislations and make Republican party stronger for the 2028 election.

I believe Biden will very soon make his decision to quit the race and the convention will be an open-ended, wherein several candidates will be nominated including VP Kamala Harris. However, Kamala’s chances of becoming party’s leading candidate are slim, because she is not smart and experience like Hillary or Nikki and not liked by many politicians in her own party and general public.

Either way, because of uncertainty of Democrat candidates, Trump’s chances of getting elected becomes stronger. If he plays smartly and quit lying and bragging, Trump will be our next president. Should Trump die in office or retired after serving full term, JD Vance is very capable young politicians to lead the country in future. His assets is his wife Usha, who is a very successful attorney having clerked for Supreme Court justices.
