Indiaspora founder and chairman of the board MR Rangaswami was elated by the T20 World Cup match played between India and Pakistan in New York on June.9. “The experience was priceless,” he beamed. “We had 100 Indiaspora friends join us in our special buses and everybody had a great time.”

“This was my first T20 and it couldn’t be more exciting,” added Rangaswami, a software executive, investor, entrepreneur, and corporate eco-strategy expert.

Indiaspora is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring the Indian diaspora to act as a force for good by offering a platform for collaboration and fostering community engagement. About 100 members of the organization attended the India-Pakistan T20 World Cup match held at New York's Nassau County Cricket Ground.

“Didn’t expect a spectacular game between India and Pakistan,” said another senior member of Indiaspora. “The enthusiasm on the field was off the charts. I’m particularly happy that India prevailed and I hope that the entire T20 World Cup is of this caliber because that’s what cricket needs to bring in the audience and for us to build a sport in the United States.”

“It was an amazing game. It swung both directions. Pakistan thought they had it, India thought they lost it but in the middle of the game, Pakistan gave it away,” an older member of Indiaspora told New India Abroad.

“My first cricket game, enjoyed it,” said a younger member when asked about the match.

India triumphed over Pakistan by six runs in a tense, low-scoring T20 World Cup Group A match. Over 34,000 fans were present at the temporary arena to witness the encounter. India’s star bowler Jasprit Bumrah stole the limelight.
