Airbus, the leading aircraft manufacturer, will establish a Center of Excellence (CoE) and a chair professor for aerospace studies at Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), India’s first university dedicated to the transportation and logistics sectors located in Vadodara, Gujarat.

The Airbus-GSV Center of Excellence aims to reshape transportation and logistics in India by promoting research, innovation, and comprehensive capacity-building programmes. Airbus will fund infrastructure development and essential equipment, deploying technology solutions to enhance training and research, thereby improving employability for GSV students.

As part of this partnership, Airbus will also provide scholarships to 40 meritorious and underprivileged students pursuing aviation engineering and related fields, covering their entire fees. The collaboration aims to develop a comprehensive aerospace curriculum, including academic and executive programmes.

33 percent of these scholarships will be reserved for female students to encourage gender diversity. Additionally, a guest chair professor will be appointed to support the establishment of the CoE and the development of aerospace programmes, including safety management, flight data analysis, and air cargo management.

The announcement was made in the presence of Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu, and senior government officials.

“This partnership will develop a strong pool of professionals to power India’s transportation sector, especially aviation, and will be a success story of the 'Skill India' programme,” said Rémi Maillard, president and managing director, Airbus in India and South Asia.

Prof. Manoj Choudhary, vice chancellor of GSV, emphasized, “This collaboration with Airbus will advance GSV’s vision to be an industry-driven, innovation-led university. We are thankful for Airbus’ substantial contribution to both regular and executive education programmes, which will foster growth in India’s aviation sector through superior human resources and research.”

This collaboration follows a memorandum of understanding signed between GSV and Airbus in 2023. GSV, established in 2022 by an Act of Parliament, aims to create a pool of top-tier professionals in the transportation sector, offering multidisciplinary teaching, executive training, and research with a demand-driven curriculum to meet industry needs.
