Embraer and Mahindra partner for advanced military aircraft

Brazil-based global aerospace firm, Embraer Defense and Security will join forces with India’s Mahindra Group for jointly supplying the Indian Air Force (IAF) with the cutting-edge C-390 Millennium multi-mission aircraft. 

The firms signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) recently at the Embassy of Brazil in New Delhi, underscoring the evolving ties between the two nations.


 



Bosco da Costa Junior, president and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security, emphasized the strategic significance of the partnership and underlined India’s pivotal role as a key market for Embraer.

“India is a key market for Embraer and we fully support India’s ambitions for ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. We see this partnership as a symbol of strengthening relations between Brazil and India and a way to foster Global South cooperation,” he said on the occasion.

Vinod Sahay, president of Mahindra’s aerospace and defense sector lauded Embraer’s engineering prowess and the C-390 Millennium’s unmatched capabilities. He announced that the partnership not only enhances the Indian Air Force’s operational efficiency but also underscores a commitment to the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

The C-390 Millennium is regarded as the most advanced military airlifter in the market, offering unparalleled mobility, operating flexibility, and cost-efficiency.

Designed for a wide range of missions including cargo and troop transport, medical evacuation, and aerial firefighting, the C-390 Millennium boasts superior payload capacity and speed compared to its counterparts. Its adaptability to temporary or unpaved runways further enhances its operational versatility.

The collaboration between Embraer and Mahindra will be significant in India’s defense modernization efforts, bringing state-of-the-art aerospace technology to the nation’s doorstep.
