To commemorate its 10th anniversary, Ekjut Theater has a series of planned productions this year, featuring three plays each.
Founded by Promila Kumar, this non-profit organization has over the years become a vital platform for aspiring performers and a source of entertainment for the community. With a focus on literature, social issues, and cultural themes, Ekjut aims to showcase the diversity of performing arts.
Having debuted 100 individual performers to the world of performing arts, Ekjut staged its 19th production on Apr.27 at the Center Stage Theater in Naperville.
The spring production featured three comedic plays: "Tajmahal ka Tender”, a classic satire written by Ajay Shukla; "Khane Mein Kya Hai”, a comedy addressing a social issue; and "Pyar Ka Panchanama”, a lighthearted comedy exploring love among three couples.
The event was sold out and the audience enjoyed all the plays that had a 20-member cast and team. These included both experienced and new actors.
The next production is scheduled on Sep.29, featuring plays in English language at a very prestigious theater in Chicago. Those interested in participating or attending can send an email to ekjuttheater@gmail.com.
