Echoes of Jai Shri Ram in Sydney

The Akhand Ramayana recitation continued for 24 hours in the Shri temple in Sydney ahead of the inauguration

Finally, the consecration of the Ram Mandir idol has taken place, much to the delight of Indians around the globe. From across the seven seas in Sydney, the sound of the conch shell for the consecration of the Ram Temple has been heard.  

The Akshat (offering rice) was was distributed among the devotees in Australia who celebrated the inauguration of the temple by organizing events in temples across the country.

Shri Mandir in Sydney began their celebrations on Jan 20 with the Akhand Ramayana recitation which continued for 24 hours. On the auspicious day of 22nd January, Shri Ram Yagya was performed in the temple in which devotees participated with great enthusiasm.

Shri Ram Temple Ayodhya inauguration celebration was organized by ISKCON at Rouse Hill Community Center. A procession of Ram devotees also took place in the Marayong community center. The main attraction was the recreation of  Ram Darbar by children. Ram Katha was also told during the event.

Varun Luthara, volunteer at Marayong Community Center said, “We are very excited I am mesmerized by the way it is happening all over the world, everybody is together all Hindus of the world are united today.” He thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making the moment  come after hundreds of years of struggle.

“This moment comes after hundreds and hundreds of years. which  really want to thank them. After so many years of waiting and sharing our blood time and money, we are finally getting Ram Ji back to Ayodhya again,” he added.

Sydney Shakti Temple was thronged by a crowd of devotees, who witnessed the grand Ram Darbar. The chief priest of the temple distributed the Akshat that came from Ayodhya among the devotees, while they made offered lamps to Lord Ram. In Black Town Shree Swaminarayan Temple devotees staged a procession with slogans of Jai Shri Ram and flags. Live telecast of Ram Mandir Murti Pratishtha from Ayodhya was also being shown here.

“We are very lucky to face this day as it is one of the historical day for the country and the world. Special thanks to Modi ji, Aditya Nath ji this is going to take India to the next level,” Harsh Shukla, a devotee asserted.

To commemorate the ocassion, the Shiva Sydney Hindus & Indians Volunteers Association also organized an event on this occasion at Seven Hills Community Centre, Sydney. Here the elders sang poems and narrated the entire story and struggle for the establishment of Ram temple.

Not only the adults , the celebrations also struck a chord among some young Hindu diaspora members. “It is an honour to seeing live today.. It brought all of our generation closer to god. We are very thankful to the Prime Minister, for making it possible,” Jai Thakkar, Kaushal Modi and Dhruv said.
