Documentary on filmmaker Rajamouli premiers on Netflix

The film offers an in-depth look at the career of the filmmaker, who has set new standards in the industry through his grand storytelling and groundbreaking visual effects.

A documentary on S.S. Rajamouli, the filmmaker who has transformed Indian cinema with films like Baahubali and the Oscar-winning RRR premiered on Netflix on Aug.2.

Titled ‘Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli’, the film offers an in-depth look at the career of the filmmaker, who has set new standards in the industry through his grand storytelling and groundbreaking visual effects. 

The documentary, presented by Anupama Chopra, features behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with Rajamouli, along with insights from industry giants such as James Cameron, Joe Russo, and Karan Johar. Contributions from close friends and collaborators like Prabhas, Jr NTR, Rana Daggubati, and Ram Charan further enrich the narrative.

Sameer Nair, managing director of Applause Entertainment, highlighted the significance of the project, stating that Rajamouli's inventive narrative style has revolutionized Indian filmmaking. "We are excited to present his artistic development from his humble beginnings to Baahubali and RRR," Nair said.

Anupama Chopra described Rajamouli as a visionary whose imagination has altered the course of Indian cinema. "His craft has captivated audiences around the world. His epic narratives have redefined storytelling standards," she noted.

Monika Shergill, vice-president of Content at Netflix India, emphasized Rajamouli's global impact. "His adventurous spirit and mastery of fantasy and epic genres have left an indelible mark on entertainment-loving audiences globally," Shergill said. "This documentary offers a unique glimpse into his creative world."
