In celebration of India's Independence Day, the Consulate General of India in New York hosted a concert by the acclaimed DHUN Musical Group, USA. The musical group, which Rajeev Singh founded, performed a medley of patriotic songs for the occasion.
Dr Avinash Gupta, a renowned cardiologist, EVP of Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) NY/NJ/CT and chairman of the Shri Siddhivinayak Temple USA served as the distinguished guest of honour. Other dignitaries in attendance included vice-consul, Pragya Singh, Ranjeet Kumar, the vice chairman of the Bihar Foundation and Dr Geeta Gupta, the principal trustee of the Shri Siddhivinayak Temple USA and a well-known physician and social worker in the community.
In his speech, Dr Gupta expressed his gratitude to Consul General Randhir Jaiswal, diplomats, and consulate staff for their outstanding work in fostering closer ties between the Indian community in the USA and the Indian government. He also appreciated and thanked Rajeev Singh for his exceptional work in promoting musical arts in our adopted land and providing a platform for talents.
The vice-consul praised the DHUN team for putting on a unique event and recalled the concert they hosted on August 13, 2021, to commemorate India's 75th Independence Day.
Since its inception the group has been actively giving back to the community by performing music at fundraisers for various causes. While doing so, concurrently, the group also earnestly highlights the ambition to identify, cultivate, and offer a platform to nurture talents, particularly to the lesser-known, and bring top-notch entertainment from the diaspora community.
The musical event received support from several well-known local organisations, including the FIA NY/NJ/CT, famous for organising the India Day parade in New York, Shri Siddhivinayak Temple USA, Bihar Foundation, Lions International Club, Bihar Jharkhand Association of North America (BJANA), BIT Sindri Alumni Association of North America (BITSAANA ), and others.
