Delhi police impose Sec 144, no-fly zone ahead of G 20 Summit
The Indian Army, Indian Air Force, K9 police squads, anti-biological and anti-chemical weapons units, alongside other law enforcement teams will work together to ensure the safety of foreign leaders, their families, and the local public, during the G20 summit.

The highly anticipated G20 summit, which will be held in Delhi on September 9 and 10, is just around the corner, and the police have covered all bases in terms of security, with over 43 world leaders and their families expected to arrive in India for the event.
The latest update from the Delhi police department includes the announcement of a no-fly zone/prohibition of certain flying objects in the national capital territory (NCT) of Delhi in light of the G20 summit. The ban shall be in force for 15 days, up to Sept. 12.
“There will be a prohibition on flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms like para-gliders, para-motors, hang-gliders, UAVS, UASS, microlight aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, small-sized powered aircraft, quadcopters or para jumping from aircraft etc. over the jurisdiction of the NCT of Delhi given G-20 Summit in the National Capital of Delhi to thwart criminal, anti-social elements or terrorists inimical to India from posing a threat to the safety of the general public, dignitaries and viral installations by using them, “ the Delhi Police announced in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
Provisions have been made to ensure the safety of the leaders, delegates, and their spouses, as well as the general public in the area, with a particular emphasis on women and vulnerable groups. According to a Hindustan Times report, over 700 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel have been tasked with ensuring the safety of the 43 foreign leaders who will be arriving in New Delhi for the summit.
“These 700-plus personnel are all trained in dignitary protection. They will be working with their foreign counterparts (personal security) of the respective heads of state and function as the (Special Protection Group) SPG does,” a CRPF official told the publication on the condition of anonymity. Sahastra Seema Bal (SBS) troops ensure the safety of the leaders’ spouses and family members.
SPG, consisting of paramilitary forces, the Intelligence Bureau (IB), and the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) are in charge of the security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the occasion.
Security has also been increased at the G20 venue, the Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition-Convention Center (IECC) at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. According to CNN-News18, nearly 4,000 Delhi police officers will be present at the event. To ensure the event's smooth operation, units from the Indian Air Force (IAF), National Security Guard (NSG), Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams, and Quick Response Teams (QRT) have all been deployed.
In addition, 69 police K9 squads will be stationed throughout the capital to detect explosives. Over 5,000 members of the Indian Army's anti-sabotage teams (AST) will assist in ensuring the capital's safety during the G20. ASTs work on bomb threat situations. According to media reports, anti-biological and anti-chemical weapon units are also on standby.
Delhi’s Lieutenant General Vinai Kumar Saxena has been conducting several review meetings with top officials of the Delhi Police ahead of the summit. The latest review meeting took place on August 31.
