Delhi NCR, Haryana and UP witness below normal temperatures
The Delhi NCR region's maximum temperature dropped by seven to eight degrees below the season's average

The capital city of India, Delhi, was blanketed in thick fog resulting in chilly weather on Thursday, December 4. The maximum temperature dropped to abnormal lows ranging 7-8 degrees Celsius below the season’s average.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that Delhi's typical maximum temperature at this time of year is 19.3 degrees Celsius, while the typical low is 6.9 degrees. However, parts of the city experienced maximum temperatures of 15 degrees Celsius with the minimum temperature recorded at 7.7 degrees Celsius
Many areas of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and northern Madhya Pradesh recorded high temperatures between 12 and 18 degrees Celsius, much below the season's average. The highest temperature will probably stay below 18 degrees Celsius, although from January 7 it might get warmer, according to the IMD.
Delhi’s Safdarjung area reported a maximum temperature of 12.5 degrees Celsius on Jan.4, while the Palam region recorded 11.4 degrees. Ghaziabad, on the other hand, recorded 10.8 degrees, the Ridge area reported 12 degrees, and Noida registered 11.1 degrees.
The weather department issued a warning, stating that from January 4-6, isolated areas of Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi will likely experience severe to extremely severe cold conditions during the day with the lowest temperatures below 10 degrees.
The three locations will also likely experience severe to very deep fog, with visibility down to less than 50 meters.
