Delegation from US universities to visit India
Topics to be discussed include setting up international branch campuses in India, and ed-tech impact in Indian higher education

Officials from seventeen colleges and universities from the United States will embark on a seven-day, three-city visit to India as part of the Institute of International Education (IIE) Leadership Delegation to explore and expand bilateral partnerships with higher education institutions in the country.
As per an official release, the visit will be held from February 25, 2024, to March 2, 2024, as part of the Center for International Partnership’s 2023–24 IIE Country Spotlight Series. The itinerary starts and ends in New Delhi, with the delegation splitting between Mumbai and Hyderabad mid-week.

The discussions will focus on the intersection of higher education, business, and government, offering participants an exploration of India’s rapidly evolving higher education landscape and collaboration opportunities. In addition, the delegation will provide a face-to-face forum for US and Indian leaders to interact, create meaningful relationships, and consolidate their strategies.
About 31 provosts, vice provosts, deans, and other chiefs from institutions such as University of California, Berkeley, University of Houston, Florida International University, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Michigan State University, University of Massachusetts, Amherst Mississippi State University, and University of Missouri, will be part of the delegation.
Senior officials from the US Embassy and Consulates in India, the Government of India, and higher education institutions in India will deliver remarks and participate in panels. Topics to be discussed include setting up international branch campuses in India, and ed-tech impact in Indian higher education.
Delegates will visit US consulates, the Indian School of Business, IIT Hyderabad, Mahindra University, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), and Somaiya Vidyavihar University.
IIE co-presidents, Jason Czyz and A Sarah Ilchman will represent non-profit based in New York at the delegation. IIE India's director Vivek Mansukhani, senior vice president Jonah Kokodyniak, and lead of the IIE Center for International Partnerships Sylvia Jons, will also be present.
The IIE has emphasized in its statement that over than 40 percent of India’s 1.4 billion population is under the age of 25, and demand for education exceeds in-country supply. It quoted a latest Open Doors data show enrollment of India student and scholars in the US campuses has hit a record high.
"More than 265,000 Indian students came to the US to pursue higher education in the 2022–23 academic year, an all-time high for the world’s fifth-largest economy and now the most populous country. With more than 16,000 Indian scholars in the US in 2022–23, they are second only to their counterparts from China", it added.
