Leading insights company DEFCON AI, has appointed Indian-American financial strategist Vivek Upadhyaya as its new chief financial officer (CFO).
In his new role, Upadhyaya will oversee strategic planning, implementation, and management of all finance activities for DEFCON AI, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, risk management, governance, and negotiations.
Upadhyaya brings extensive experience in financial management and strategic direction from some of the nation's top corporations.

Yisroel Brumer, co-founder and CEO of DEFCON AI, expressed enthusiasm for Upadhyaya's appointment, highlighting his invaluable experience and leadership skills as the company enters a new phase of growth. “He is an accomplished leader whose skills in financial management, accounting, business development, contracting, and corporate governance will be critical as DEFCON AI enters an exciting phase of growth and maturation,” he said.
Before joining DEFCON AI, Upadhyaya served as CFO and vice president at Mercury Systems, a defense electronics supplier, where he was responsible for forecasting and internal management reporting. He also held the position of CFO at Leonardo Electronics US Inc, where he played a key role in financial strategy, growth promotion, expense reduction, and profit increase.
Upadhyaya’s career also includes leadership roles at IAI North America, where he progressed from CFO to president and CEO, providing strategic direction and governance. As a former vice president of financial planning at Northrop Grumman and Orbital ATK, he led strategic and financial planning initiatives, developing forecasting processes and overseeing financial modeling and analyses.
Upadhyaya holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and an MBA in finance from Michigan State University – Eli Broad College of Business.
DEFCON AI, based in Virginia, leverages artificial intelligence, mathematical optimization, and software engineering to empower military planners and leaders in transportation and logistics operations.
