DCSAFF 2023: Footprints on Water named best feature film

Since 2012, DCSAFF draws South Asian audiences along those from a diverse set of backgrounds eager to share each other’s cultures.

Winner of the best feature film award at the DC South Asian Film Festival (DCSAFF), which ran from December 1st to the 3rd, was Footprints on Water, a film about a father in the UK who is an illegal immigrant trying to find his daughter while dodging the authorities.

The film starring Adil Hussain marks the directorial debut of Nathalia Syam. It also features Nimisha Sajayan, Lena Kumar and British actor Antonio Akeel, the film is produced by Mohaan Nadaar. Resul Pookutty is the sound designer.

The Lifetime Achievement award went to director Jamil Dehlavi, a celebrated independent filmmaker of Pakistani and French origin. His films including The Blood Of Hussain, Born Of Fire and Seven Lucky Gods have been recognised with various international accolades and showcased at multiple film festivals across the globe.

BEST SHORT FILM FOR SOCIAL MESSAGE – Four Fifty-Five ml

BEST DIRECTOR SHORT FILM – ANANTH MAHADEVAN FOR GHOST WALK

Additional awards will be announced during the virtual part of the festival that goes on until December 18.
