Aashna Patel’s journey from singing national anthems to landing her first gig at 14 to getting nominated for the prestigious Daytime Emmys is nothing short of inspiring.

The Indian-Canadian-American (strictly in that order) was just three when her family relocated from Mumbai, India, to Toronto, Canada. Patel recalls, “I remember saying goodbye to my grandparents, Baya and Bapa. The brutal Canadian winters were more of an adjustment for my parents. I adapted well, probably because my mom dressed me in thick polyester pants and snow suits. It must have been tough for my parents to leave their families, but they were happy to start a new life.”
