The Consulate General of India in San Francisco will celebrate the 10th International Day of Yoga on June.21. This year's theme, ‘Women's Empowerment’, will emphasize the transformative power of yoga in enhancing women's physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

To commemorate this day and raise awareness about the health benefits of yoga, the Consulate General of India in San Francisco is hosting yoga events in several cities within its consular jurisdiction in collaboration with local authorities and Indian associations. These events will offer participants the chance to experience the holistic benefits of yoga and celebrate this ancient practice from India.

The events will feature yoga sessions led by experienced instructors, discussions on yoga's benefits, and cultural performances.

Yoga, originating from ancient India and dating back five thousand years, aims to harmonize the body, mind, and nature through physical, mental, and spiritual practices. Acknowledging its worldwide health advantages, the United Nations General Assembly designated June.21 as the International Day of Yoga, following a proposal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2014.

In the run-up to this event, a virtual kickoff program was held in collaboration with The Art of Living on June.7 by the consulate office.
