Popular Indian comedian Kapil Sharma is about to appear on his own Netflix show.
In the past, the streaming platform has produced specials featuring some of the biggest names from the global comedy industry such as Trevor Noah, Hannah Gatsby, and the recent Emmy-winner Vir Das. However, Sharma is about to have a full-blown show, Netflix has said.
Sharma’s untitled show will also feature other talented comedians who he worked with on the hit ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ that has been popular on television since 2016. Having currently taken a hiatus from television, Sharma and his colleagues from ‘TKSS’ will now entertain audiences on Netflix.
Returning co-stars include Archana Puran Singh, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, and Rajiv Thakur, alongside many others.
Monika Shergill, vice president, Content, Netflix India said, “Kapil Sharma is a huge entertainer whose legacy and comedy has made him a household name across India for many years. We’re incredibly proud to further our partnership with him and bring the King of Indian Comedy, alongside his beloved and well-known castmates, to Netflix for an all-new comedy show. Kapil will continue to make India laugh and also entertain millions of his viewers globally now, from his new address—Netflix.”
Sharing details about the show, a Netflix release said, “While not a standalone comedy special, the fresh new series promises double the laughter and heightened entertainment in every episode. The show vows to bring back the quirks and, most importantly, the incredible warmth that the Kapil family is known for.”
The teaser of the show was shared on Netflix India’s Instagram page on November 14. The promotional video features Sharma, Puran Singh, Krushna Abhishek, and Thakur. The move from TV to Netflix was addressed by Sharma in the video. Staying true to his style, and the essence of the show and the family audience it caters to, Sharma said, “Ghar Badla Hai, Parivaar Nahi (The House has changed, not the family).”
