Carry a big stick… and don’t talk

There is bound to be a lot of Americans cringing at what their government has to say, especially when it comes to finger-pointing, not just at India but to the world at large

There are folks in India getting bent out of shape or having sleepless nights pondering on the next sentences of a “fitting” reply to what some western spokesperson might say on what has been seen as poking noses in internal affairs.

The tit-for-tat rejoinders from the South Block to what the State Department spokesman said in Washington on the elections process, the arrest of the Delhi Chief Minister or the freezing of bank accounts has been seen in some quarters as sign of New Delhi flexing its muscles commensurate with its status in the international system.
