The fourth Test match between India and England, which is scheduled to begin in Ranchi on February 23, will not include ace bowler Jasprit Bumrah.
The pacer was cut from the team after the management decided to rest him and did not board the Tuesday flight from Rajkot to Ranchi. It is unknown if Bumrah will be available for the fifth and final Test. At an average of 13.64, Bumrah has taken 17 wickets in six innings, making him the series' top wicket-taker.
Another major setback for India is the injured KL Rahul, who will also miss the fourth Test. Rahul’s availability for the final match is contingent upon his level of fitness and speedy recovery.
Mukesh Kumar is anticipated to return to the team for the fourth Test after being let go by the management for the third Test to play for his Ranji team Bengal in domestic cricket.
India is now up 2-1 in the five-match series. The team recovered from England's first Test victory in Hyderabad to win the second Test by 106 runs and the third Test by 434 runs.
With a Points Percentage System (PCT) of 59.52 percent, India is ranked second in the World Test Championship standings, while England is wallowing in eighth place with a PCT of 21.87 percent.
India’s squad for the fourth Test includes Rohit Sharma (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (wk), KS Bharat (WK), Devdutt Padikkal, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, and Akash Deep.
