Earlier this week, the Bruhud New York Seniors, a non-profit socio-cultural organization serving the greater NYC area since 2009 celebrated Diwali at the Hindu Community Center in Queens, New York.
Over 700 guests from the tri-state area attended the event including Acting Consul General Dr. Varun Jeph, who served as the event’s chief guest. Prem Bhandari, prominent community leader and chairman of Jaipur Foot USA, delivered the keynote address at the event.
Elaborating on his organization’s work across various regions in India, Bhandari announced that a mega special limb fitting camp will be organised in Ahmedabad and surrounding villages in India in association with Bruhud New York Seniors.
Bruhud New York Seniors President Ajay S. Patel said that his father had a vision to bring the community together, and the diwali celebration is one way to carry out that vision. He also announced that in addition to the Ahmedabad camp a health fair will be organised in association with Jaipur Foot USA in New York for the seniors in 2024.

Mukundbhai Mehta past president of Indo-American Senior Citizen Center of New York, Dahyabhai Patel, founder of Adhyatmik Vikas Kendra, Labhubhai Upadhyay, founder of Brahmin Society of NY, as well as community volunteers Ushaben B. Mehta and Rakeshbhai Patel received awards at the event for their community service.
