British-Indian actress Banita Sandhu made her Hollywood debut in the highly anticipated third season of the Netflix series Bridgerton.
Sandhu, who gained recognition in Indian cinema with her debut in Shoojit Sircar’s Bollywood film October (2018) opposite Varun Dhawan, appears as Miss Malhotra in the latest installment of the historical romance series.
The first part of Bridgerton Season 3 premiered on May.16, with Sandhu sharing the screen with Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton. Her character, Miss Malhotra, is expected to bring a fresh dynamic to the social landscape of the show's fictional Regency-era London, challenging the norms among its eligible bachelors.
Bridgerton, based on the novels by Julia Quinn, is renowned for its lavish production design, captivating storylines, and commitment to diverse casting.
Sandhu, who began her acting career in local productions in Wales, has expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to join the Bridgerton universe. "So grateful... to immerse myself in the Bridgerton universe," she wrote on social media.
"Thank you Netflix and Shondaland for a wonderful experience. Wish I could keep the costumes though,” she said.
Sandhu, who hails from Wales, UK, began her acting journey on local stages before transitioning to screen roles. Her talent quickly gained recognition, leading to her Bollywood debut.
Sandhu then showcased her versatility by venturing into Tamil cinema with "Adithya Varma," a remake of the successful Telugu film "Arjun Reddy." Her filmography further expanded with roles in the British dark comedy "Eternal Beauty" and a reunion with Sircar in the historical drama "Sardar Udham," starring Vicky Kaushal.
The second half of Bridgerton Season 3 is slated for release on Jun.13
