In the opening pages of her first book, ‘Unashamed,’ debutant author Neha Bhat writes, “Shame keeps people stuck in fear.” Her writing echoed the sentiment of many struggling with shame and reprieved of their sexual identity. Having walked a similar path, she now offers a life-changing look into how our brain responds to past trauma and how one can pull the plug and change the narrative.

In this weekly edition of New India Abroad, we caught up with the clinical sex-focused trauma therapist, who has worked in trauma care both in India and in the US, to know more about her pioneering work, debut publication and what makes sex therapy pivotal in a country like India.
