Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden won against the reigning Australian Open champions, Rinky Hijikata and Jason Kubler in Pala Alpitour, Turin, Italy. The duo claimed a decisive victory with a straight-set win of 6-4, 6-4 in their second Red Group match at the ATP finals 2023 on November 15.

The achievement made 43-year-old Bopanna, the oldest player in the history of the ATP finals to secure a win, breaking the previous record held by Daniel Nestor of Canada. Nestor, who was 42 at that time, had set the record in 2014.

Bopanna added this to his earlier record of being the oldest player to win an ATP Masters 1000 title at Indian Wells. Bopanna and Ebden showcased a display of strategic brilliance, holding their serves until the eighth game.

The second set saw an early break by Bopanna and Ebden in the third game, but secured a second consecutive 6-4 set. Bopanna and Ebden will face Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski on November 17.

The winner will secure a spot in the top two of the Red Group, advancing to the semi-finals of the men's tennis championships. This will also mark Bopanna’s fourth appearance at the ATP Finals.
