Indian shuttler B Sai Praneeth announced his retirement from badminton, after dedicating over 24 years to the sport.
In an announcement on social media platform X, the athlete, expressing a mix of emotions, marked the end of his career and the beginning of a new chapter as a coach.
Praneeth expressed his gratitude and acknowledged the unwavering support of his incredible fans, saying, “To my incredible fans, your unwavering support has been my greatest strength. Each cheer, every flag raised, has buoyed my spirits and fueled my determination to excel. Your presence in my journey has been nothing short of a blessing.”

Declaring his love for the sport, Praneeth wrote, “Badminton, you have been my first love, my constant companion, shaping my character and giving purpose to my existence. The memories we've shared, the challenges we've overcome, will forever be etched in my heart.”
In a detailed account, Praneeth poured his heart out, extending his thanks to family, including grandparents, parents, and his wife.
Praneeth's retirement comes after a string of achievements. He made history by becoming the first Indian male shuttler in 36 years to secure a bronze medal at the BWF World Championships in 2019. He was also the recipient of the Arjuna Award in the same year.
The Tokyo Olympain will be moving to the United States to join Triangle Badminton Academy in North Carolina. His colleague Mohammed Siyadath Ullah is reportedly also moving to the US soon to join as a coach in Oregon Badminton Academy.
